As noted in my previous post, last night I was glad to have the unexpected opportunity to check out the University of Toronto Art Museums, the first of which was University of Toronto Art Centre at University College. I also paid a visit to Justina M. Barnicke Gallery at Hart House.
While I was very glad to see the Barnicke Gallery for the very first time, the current exhibition didn’t have the same impact on me as those at University College. I’ll say it’s because I was tired and my senses were already full, because the topic, revisiting God of Gods: A Canadian Play, was certainly fascinating. (I must add a criticism of the frustrating abundance of small print in the gallery in low light, though I certainly understand the necessity to preserve the artwork.)
As an aside, I’m a bit in love with the elegantly housed fire extinguisher, which could be considered an exhibit on its own.
Justina M. Barnicke Gallery at Hart House is museum no. 44 in my #100museums challenge (see 100 Museums Challenge).
